About Acorn Bushcraft

Acorn Bushcraft was set up in 2012 by Chris & Janet Hughes to expand the range of Bushraft Courses provided by Chris Hughes Multi Activity Services Limited.

Our Base

The majority of our courses are generally run from a permanent bushcraft site set in a splendid private deciduous woodland near Shrewsbury. We have tried to keep the site as natural as possible so the development of the site has been limited to a composting loo which reduces our environmental impact on the site.

Company Ethos

Here at Acorn Bushcraft, we fully believe in the personal touch and our courses are built to your bespoke requirements so that you achieve your aim or personal ambition. We also try and keep our courses small so that you don't become lost as part of a larger group and you have plenty of 'hands on' opportunity to practice the new skills. That said, we will not force you to take part in any session and will fully respect your wishes if you decide to opt out for a while.

Instruction

Our fun and informative courses are designed and run by Chris who learned his basic skills through the Scout Association (back then we called it survival skills and backwards cooking). Then, after many hours of dabbling in the woods he then become an IOL Bushcraft Practitioner in 2009 and more recently he has completed his NCFE Level 4 Bushcraft, Survival and Wilderness Living Skills through Survival School in 2012. We do sometimes use other instructors and where this happens they will be well known to us, have appropriate experience and qualifications and most importantly a passion for the outdoors and teaching others.

Why Chose Acorn Bushcraft

Although we can provide 'off the shelf' courses we recognise that this might not be the best choice for you so where possible, we will work with you to provide a tailor made course so that you can make the best of your time with us. Our instructors are passionate about what they do and enjoy developing others to go on and have their own bushcraft adventures.

Come & Try Bushcraft

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to light a fire and cook a meal over an open fire then our 'Come and Try Bushcraft' course is just what you are looking for. The sessions are run over half a day and are a fantastic way for family and friends to come together to have fun in the outdoors and learn about bushcraft. During your time with us you'll be shown:

If time permits we may also look at making natural cordage and navigation the natural way. These courses are run, on demand, in our private woodland in Shropshire and we provide all necessary equipment and food. The cost of the course is £40 per person and we require a minimum of two people for the course to run.

You can find out more details about these bushcraft courseson our sister site "http://www.acornbushcraft.co.uk". This site is however at the moment not suitable for viewing on small mobile divices. You can however contact us using one of the following:-
